The core purpose of this role is to serve residents and other library visitors at the counter, support activities and keep stock and book collections well maintained and orderly. You will interact with customers throughout the day, helping to answer enquiries and making all who visit feel welcome.

Please note that Northwood Library is temporarily closed. If successful you would be asked to work at Uxbridge Library for an initial period of 6 - 12 months with a temporary set of hours as agreed with the Library Manager.

- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday: 10am - 2pm
- Thursdays: 10am - 7pm
The proposed temporary work pattern for working at Uxbridge Library (to be agreed with manager if successful) is:
- Monday: 10am - 5pm
- Tuesday: 10am - 5pm
- Thursday: 10am - 7pm
- Friday: 10am - 2pm
Please note the salary displayed has already been pro-rated and is the salary for 24 hours per week.
About You
You will be a positive and enthusiastic person with experience and skill delivering front line services as part of a team, supporting your manager and the service by contributing your ideas and enthusiasm to extend the library offer to as many residents as possible.
You will need to have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and team members both verbally and in writing. You have a positive, can-do approach to tasks and able to both problem solve and follow procedures.
Library staff are ambassadors for the library service, and representatives of their libraries as community hubs.
